Data-driven public opinion research
and social analysis to get the full picture
With over 170.000 users during the 2024 European elections, Palumba.org disposes of over 5M+ data points that link demographic information with political views. The Knowledge Lab’s mission is to produce insights on youth political engagement, trends, and on how to improve our tools.
We build on our own dataset, strong institutional partnerships, and innovative research ideas. We investigate topics such as polarization, the gender ideological gap, and the generational divide to inform better policymaking and futureproof political action.
Acknowledging self-selection bias, insights from academia and exclusive research partnerships are also integrated to allow for a holistic and critical view. As a young team, we also provide the space for innovative projects, such as the German Media Dashboard –tracking representation of youth topics in Germany’s most influential political talk shows.
We work with Europe’s top social science universities’ graduates. Let’s work together!
Maxima Krage / One year after the German parliamentary snap elections, we look back on what topics were most polarising during the election campaigns: was it border controls, a nation wide "rent cap" or the never outdated debate on implementing a speed limit on German highways? Results from Palumba's 2025 Germany mission reveal the answer.
Elise Torché / We love simple labels: Gen Z is "climate-conscious," Millennials are "socially liberal," and Boomers are "conservative". These heuristics assume that age alone determines worldview. However, results from Palumba’s 2024 EU election mission demonstrate that this myth is unfounded.
Article of the month
Beatriz Santos Mayo / The far right has increasingly built its support on anti-immigration and nationalist platforms. This suggests that attitudes towards migration have hardened and that the European youth is more anti-immigration than older generations. However, there is a clear gender divide.
Maxima Krage / In January 2024, the Financial Times announced the surfacing of a “new global gender divide”. Its core argument was quickly embraced by public discourse as an unquestionable truth. But is Generation Z truly experiencing increased polarisation along gender lines?

Topics
Our main areas of expertise around the generational gap
1/ Data analysis & social research
The Data Analysis team assures the treatment of the over 180.000 user responses, while the Social Research team lays the theoretical groundwork. Both power evidence-based research outputs for our articles and short videos, serving both an academic and wide young audience.
2/ Articles and data reels
The Knowledge Lab members and guest researchers shine new light on a topic of relevance to young Europeans. We combine Palumba.org data with recent academic publications to provide a better perspective.
3/ App improvement
The critical evaluation of the highly successful Palumba app brings us closer to achieving the goals of mobilizing young voters, informing about political positions, and depolarizing society. Each feature of the app is checked in this light to ensure it has a justified place. We ask questions, like:
· What is the right length for statements?
· How can we assess social impact?
· Do users read the provided context?
